 Abstract

A total of 70 mollusks from Late Pleistocene and Holocene is reported from the litoral marine deposits surrounding La Paz, B. C. S. area; 34 species are bivalves and 36 gastropods.

Radiometric datations, using C14 suggest that the mollusk communities from "El Comitánll , "Mogote"y "Conchalito", located in la Paz inlet, are very recent and contemporary specimens from "El Coyote", located outside La Paz Bay are older apparently. Of the dated species, those from "Mogote" are the youngest (1,425 years B.P.), while those from "El Tecolote" are 32,570 years B.P. old.
