Abstract

Geologic studies for Nuclear Plant Sites Selection have been made in 30 000 km2, mainly in the state of Tamaulipas and other smaller portions in the states of Veracruz and San Luis Potosí. The principal purpose of these geologic studies is to know what kind of rocks exist, their stratigraphic position and the most important structural patterns. This area is included by 22° and 24° North latitude parallels and 97° 45¨ and 99° West longitude meridians. In this area is located the Barra el Tordo Site, which is an attractive place to establish a Nuclear Plant; tha’s why the geologic study around this site was made with more detail.
