Abstract

A set of photographs was required in order to carry out a geological survey of the left ban bank of Santa Rosa Dam, Jalisco. The detailed mapping of the fractures had to be precise in order to perform the stability assesment of the vertical slopes.

This article describes the geological horizontal photointerpretation method that was applied. Photocolormosaics, oblique airphotos, panoramic slides and blow-ups, infrared photos and photo sets of the dam gallery walls, were used. In addition, the field work and interpretation are discussed.

Photointerpretation deductive and inductive processes were found very helpfull for the integration of the Santa Rosa left bank geological model.
