Abstract

In regard to the international average price of gold, which is of approximately 10'930,000 dollars per troy ounce, the increase of 1,000 kilos of gold in the annual production of this metal in Mexico, is worth more than 10'930,000 dollars of the monetary reserves of the Bank of Mexico.

This why it is so important to try to find out the true potential of the gold-bearing resources in this country, in order to programme the short and long term possibilities to increase the mining production of this valuable metal.

In this paper we present a synthesis of the inventaries of gold-bearing reserves that exist in various geologic and metallogenic environments of Mexico, which is the result of the study, evolution and appraisal carried out in the past six years, to evaluate the potential of the metallic contents in different types of mineral deposits in Mexico and Latin America.
