CALL FOR PAPERS
SPECIAL ISSUE: MINERAL DEPOSITS OF LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
We are intending to publish a special issue on Mineral Deposits of Latin America and the Caribbean in the Boletín de la Sociedad Geológica Mexicana (BSGM, http://boletinsgm.igeolcu.unam.mx/bsgm/). The BSGM is a completely free access semi-annual journal, the oldest strictly peer-reviewed journal on Earth Sciences in Mexico and one of the oldest in Latin America, and is included in the Web of Science, Journal Citation Reports, SciELO, Scopus, and in many other instruments.
We do not aim to restrict our scope to any type of deposits or type of studies, and all contributions related to the formation of mineral deposits in Latin America, the Caribbean or conterminous regions are most welcome, from the regional to the mineral-association scales of observation and analysis. Both original research papers and original thematic reviews are welcome as either full-length papers or short notes. Both Industry and Academia authors are encouraged to submit their contributions.
Contributions focused on mineral deposits from Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic are so far lined up!
The guest editors to this special issue are

- Lisard Torró (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú), and
- Carl E. Nelson (Recursos del Caribe S.A.)

Contributions can be written in either English or Spanish, and must adhere to our instructions to authors (http://boletinsgm.igeolcu.unam.mx/bsgm/index.php/instrucciones-instructions). We apply no restrictions with regard to number of pages, number of figures or tables (other than those determined by our valued scientific reviewers and provided that they are meaningful additions), and we do not charge for coloured figures or for any other matter.
First, we need to have a precise idea of how many contributions can be effectively expected for this call for papers; therefore, we need the interested contributors to kindly provide a tentative title, a list of authors (with their institution names and contact emails), and a 300-word synopsis of their intended contributions.
Important dates:
- November 3, 2018: deadline for submittal of tentative title, author list and synopsis.
- May 31, 2019: deadline for submittal of original manuscripts
- August 31, 2019: deadline for all revisions by peers of submitted manuscripts.
- October 31, 2019: deadline for submittal of revised manuscripts.
- April 30, 2020: deadline for online publication of all accepted contributions.
The dates above are only tentative and may be corrected depending on the amount of contributions to this issue. Any changes in schedule will be notified to all contributors as soon as necessary.
IMPORTANT: EXTENSION OF DEADLINES
The original deadlines and important dates for this special issue have been extended four months. The reason for this modification is that the special issue has been moved from no. 1 to no. 2 (vol. 72, 2020).
The new dates are:
- September 30, 2019: deadline for submittal of original manuscripts
- December 31, 2019: deadline for all revisions by peers of submitted manuscripts.
- February 28, 2020: deadline for submittal of revised manuscripts.
- August 31, 2020: deadline for online publication of all accepted contributions.
LLAMADO A CONTRIBUCIONES
NÚMERO ESPECIAL: DEPÓSITOS MINERALES DE AMÉRICA LATINA Y EL CARIBE
Tenemos la intención de publicar un número especial sobre Depósitos Minerales de América Latina y el Caribe en el Boletín de la Sociedad Geológica Mexicana (BSGM, http://boletinsgm.igeolcu.unam.mx/bsgm/). El BSGM es una revista cuatrimestral de acceso completamente libre, la más antigua revista arbitrada en Ciencias de la Tierra de México y una de las más antiguas en América Latina, e incluida en Web of Science, Journal Citation Reports, SciELO, Scopus, y muchos otros instrumentos.
No deseamos restringir el alcance del número especial a ninguna tipología de depósitos en particular o a ningún tipo de estudios, y todas las contribuciones relacionadas con la formación de depósitos minerales en América Latina, el Caribe o regiones aledañas son bienvenidas, desde escalas de observación y análisis regional hasta la escala de las asociaciones minerales. Tanto manuscritos producto de investigación original como aquéllos que constituyan revisiones temáticas originales son bienvenidos, bien sea en forma de contribuciones extensas o de notas cortas. Animamos a enviar contribuciones tanto a autores procedentes de la Industria como de la Academia.
Hasta el momento, existen ya contribuciones comprometidas sobre depósitos minerales de México, Cuba, Perú, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela y la Rep. Dominicana.
Los editores invitados de este número especial son:

Las contribuciones pueden estar escritas indistintamente en inglés o español, y deben de apegarse a nuestras instrucciones a los autores (http://boletinsgm.igeolcu.unam.mx/bsgm/index.php/instrucciones-instructions). No aplicamos ningún tipo de restricción en cuanto a número de páginas, número de figuras o tablas (salvo aquéllas determinadas por nuestros valiosos revisores y siempre que sean adiciones significativas), y no se aplica cargo alguno por presentar figuras a color o por ningún otro motivo. En primer lugar, necesitamos desarrollar una idea precisa sobre la cantidad de contribuciones que podemos esperar recibir a partir de este llamado; en consecuencia, es preciso que los interesados envíen un título tentativo, una lista de autores (con su filiación institucional y correo electrónico de contacto), y una sinopsis de 300 palabras de su manuscrito.
Fechas importantes:
- 3 de Noviembre 2018: fecha límite para el envío del título tentativo, lista de autores y sinopsis.
- 31 de Mayo 2019: fecha límite para el envío de los manuscritos.
- 31 de Agosto 2019: fecha límite para la recepción de las revisiones por pares.
- 31 de Octubre 2019: fecha límite para el envío de los manuscritos revisados.
- 30 de Abril 2020: fecha límite para la publicación en línea de todos los manuscritos aceptados.
Tales fechas son sólo tentativas y pueden ser objeto de reajuste en función de la cantidad de contribuciones recibidas para este número especial. Cualquier cambio en el calendario será notificado a los autores tan pronto como sea necesario.
IMPORTANTE: EXTENSIÓN DE FECHAS LÍMITE
Las fechas limite y fechas importantes originales de este número especial han sido extendidas por cuatro meses. El motivo de esta modificación es el traslado del número especial del no. 1 al no. 2 (vol. 72, 2020).
